The first steps of UX/UI design require you to start engaging with your proposed user base early.

The first interviews you undertake should be to find out what it is that the user wants in a product. Take clear notes on what the interviewees tell you they want so you have a starting point to work from.

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.”

– Albert Einstein

The results of your preliminary interviews should give you a good idea of your users pain points. It's good to have these issues in mind and now you know the issues you're trying to overcome.

After you have formed a few user personas based on insights you can create a user flow to simulate the steps a user would take when interacting with your design.
